The Presence of Luke Gonsioroski

Upon hearing the news that Baker 2017 Graduate, Luke Gonsioroski passed away after a ferocious fight with cancer has gotten me a little shaken up to say the least. It is so difficult to understand how someone that is so young and vibrant can leave this world. It was just this last spring when I watched him run the 100 meter dash at the Baker Invitational. He led a host of Baker students to the finish line. He was first. He was their leader and one of their best.

It is with heavy heart that I want to pass on my condolences to the Gonsioroski family as well as the greater community of Baker.  I want you to know that I, like many of the folks here in Colstrip, enjoyed watching Luke in his many appearances during our athletic competitions. He was as kind off the court/field as he was a champion on it.

Luke had such a presence. In point of this fact, I take photos at most of our athletic events. I try to capture the Colts and Fillies at their very best. It is not my intent to take photos of the competition, but Luke Gonsioroski's talent and presence somehow always ended up on my camera roll.

With that I want to share a few of these moments he had on the field. I also want to point out that he is and always will be a presence for time to come. LUKE GONSIOROSKI - MADE DUST! He has always been out in front and in my mind he will always be there! Thank you Luke for making a difference!

Making Dust! Colstrip Golf 3rd at State

The Men's Golf Team placed 3rd in the State of Montana amongst all Class B schools. Peter Brown placed 4th, Lane Bradley 15th, O'shon Old Mouse 20th and Ty Bradley 28th in a field of 70 contestants.

Well done COLTS! Congratulations on a superb year!

Peter Brown lead the Colstrip Golfers at State with a 4th Place overall finish.

Making Dust! Baily Menahan Secondary Student of the Year Award

Although it may seem late, I want to congratulate our very own Business Professionals of America Chapter Advisor Jennette Barreto and the work that she and the students have done to "spread their wings" at a national level. Colstrip Senior Baily Menahan was the very first student to be named Student of the Year at the National Conference of Business Professionals of American in Orlando, Florida. I can't think of a better example for "Making Dust" than the recognition that Baily received. Congratulations Baily Menahan!

UNDEFEATED REGULAR SEASON!

Its not often that a group of individuals can brag about an undefeated season. Girls Basketball Head Coach Roxi Wilson takes her team into divisions without a loss. The team is 20-0. Perfection is rarely achieved by any measure. Congratulations Fillies on your outstanding regular season! Congratulations on your District Championship as well.

This maybe a week or two late, but I didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to recognize and congratulate our Wrestlers for being the State-Runner Up Class B/C Champions. Being State Runner Up was not their goal, but it was a great year none-the-less.

The Colts had 4 State Champions and 3 Consolation Champions. In addition the Colts crowned a 4 Time Champion. ITS NOT EVERYDAY THAT ANY OF THIS HAPPENS! CONGRATULATIONS COLTS! Way to MAKE DUST!

FOUR TIME STATE CHAMPION: Clayton Currier at 138 lbs. 

QUICKEST PEN AWARD: Clayton Currier 

TWO TIME STATE CHAMPION: Jackson Currier at 126 lbs.

STATE CHAMPION: Blake Johnson at 205 lbs.

STATE CHAMPION: Merlin Whitedirt at 285 lbs.
